How to care for your wigs & extensions

A complete routine for single donor Vietnamese & European hair

Investing in single donor hair means investing in quality that is meant to last. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, single donor Vietnamese and European hair retains its natural cuticle alignment, which is what gives it that unmistakable movement, shine, and longevity. But even the finest hair requires a consistent, intentional care routine to maintain its integrity over time. This is ours.

The Washing Routine

Recommended every 1 to 2 weeks, or after 8 to 10 wears

01

DETANGLE BEFORE YOU WET

Using a wide-tooth comb or a soft paddle brush, gently detangle the hair from ends to roots before introducing any water. Work in small sections and never force through knots. Wet hair is more fragile, so this step protects the integrity of each strand from the start.

A wide-tooth comb is your best tool here. Avoid fine-tooth brushes on wet hair entirely.

02

WASH WITH LUKEWARM WATER

Place the hair under a gentle stream of lukewarm water and allow it to run from root to tip, following the natural direction of the cuticle. Hot water opens and disrupts the cuticle layer, which leads to frizz and premature dryness over time. Keep the temperature gentle and consistent throughout the wash.

03

SHAMPOO WITH CARE

Apply a small amount of sulfate-free shampoo to your palms, emulsify it, and then smooth it through the hair in a downward motion from roots to ends. Avoid scrubbing or creating friction, as this disrupts the cuticle and causes tangling. For extensions, focus the shampoo on the weft or bond area, then let it rinse down through the lengths naturally.

Sulfate-free only. Sulfates strip the hair of moisture and natural oils, accelerating dryness and shortening the lifespan of the hair.

04

CONDITION EVERY TIME

Apply a generous amount of a moisturising, silicone-free conditioner from mid-lengths to ends. Leave it on for a minimum of five minutes before rinsing thoroughly. For single donor European hair especially, which tends to be finer in texture, a weekly deep conditioning treatment is strongly recommended to maintain elasticity and softness.

05

RINSE WITH COLD WATER

Finish with a cool water rinse to seal the cuticle, lock in moisture, and enhance natural shine. This is a small step that makes a noticeable difference to the overall appearance and smoothness of the hair.

Drying & Styling

Handle with the same care you would your finest fabric

06

PAT, NEVER RUB

Gently press the hair between a soft microfiber towel to absorb excess water. Rubbing creates friction that roughens the cuticle and leads to frizz, tangling, and breakage. Cotton towels in particular are too abrasive for single donor hair. A microfiber towel or a soft t-shirt are the best options.

07

AIR DRY WHENEVER POSSIBLE

Where time allows, allow the hair to air dry on a wig stand or hanger. This preserves the hair's natural texture and extends its lifespan significantly. If you need to speed up the process, use a hooded dryer on a low heat setting. Direct high-heat blow-drying should always be your last option.

A wig stand also helps maintain the shape and structure of the unit during drying.

08

APPLY HEAT PROTECTANT BEFORE ANY TOOL

Before using any heated styling tool, apply a lightweight heat protectant to sections of the hair. Although single donor hair can withstand heat styling, repeated exposure without protection will compromise the cuticle over time. Keep flat irons and curling wands at 180°C or below, and always work in smooth, deliberate passes rather than clamping and holding.

Daily Maintenance & Storage

How you store and handle the hair between wears matters just as much

09

DETANGLE DAILY

Even on non-wash days, give the hair a brief detangling session using a wide-tooth comb or a loop brush, starting from the ends and working upward. This prevents matting and keeps the hair looking smooth and intentional. Never go to sleep in a wig without securing it, and always braid or loosely plait extensions before bed to minimise tangling overnight.

10

STORE CORRECTLY

When not being worn, store your wig on a wig stand or in a silk or satin bag to preserve its shape and moisture levels. Avoid storing hair in direct sunlight or near sources of heat, as this causes fading and dryness over time. Extensions should be stored laid flat or loosely bundled in a breathable bag, away from humidity.

11

MOISTURISE BETWEEN WASHES

Between wash days, a small amount of lightweight hair oil or a leave-in conditioning spray applied to the mid-lengths and ends will keep the hair nourished and reduce the appearance of dryness. Argan oil, camellia oil, and marula oil are excellent choices for both Vietnamese and European hair types. Use sparingly to avoid product build-up near the weft or bonds.

A NOTE ON VIETNAMESE VS. EUROPEAN HAIR

Both of our single donor hair types are exceptional in quality, but they do have different natural characteristics. Vietnamese hair tends to be slightly thicker and more resilient, making it naturally more forgiving with heat and styling. European hair is typically finer and silkier, and therefore benefits most from extra moisture and a more delicate approach throughout the care routine. When in doubt, treat both with the same level of care you would give to the most delicate of the two.
